Greetings from the Green University Competitive Programming Community (GUBCPC)! We are delighted to share the successful completion of several key initiatives that were conducted as part of the Summer 2025 onboarding activities for beginner-level students. These included the Beginner Competitive Programming Orientation, the Beginner-Level Math Assessment, and the launch of Beginner CP Training Classes.
The Beginner Competitive Programming Orientation was held on June 30, 2025, at the Multipurpose Hall of Green University of Bangladesh. The session welcomed more than 150 newly admitted students from various departments, including CSE, SWE, and ADS. The event aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals, mindset, and long-term value of Competitive Programming (CP). More than just a technical skill, CP was presented as a tool for developing structured logic, critical thinking, and perseverance—traits essential for both academic and career success.
We were honored by the presence of Professor Dr. Md. Saiful Azad, Dean, Faculty of Science & Engineering, and Advisor of the GUB Competitive Programming Community, whose motivational speech greatly inspired the audience. The session also featured online contributions from an industry trainer and two ICPC World Finalists, who shared their journeys and provided practical insights that added immense value to the program.
To further identify promising talent, a Beginner Math Assessment was conducted on July 4, 2025, in two slots with separate question sets. A total of 109 students from various departments participated in the one-hour exam. The test evaluated logical reasoning, mathematical aptitude, and problem-solving skills—essential abilities for success in CP. Students also completed an online assignment, and the results were published on July 10, 2025.
Based on the performance, three Beginner CP training sections were officially launched, including a section tailored for absolute beginners. The training classes commenced on July 11, 2025, focusing on C++ fundamentals, logical thinking, and problem-solving techniques. These sessions are mainly held on Saturdays and Sundays, conducted by the Advanced CP Batch members, with guidance from faculty members and the Competitive Programming Trainer.
We kindly request faculty members to continue supporting the GUBCPC initiative by identifying and referring students with strong logical, mathematical, and programming aptitude. With your support, we aim to mentor and prepare the next generation of CP enthusiasts who can represent GUB at national and international platforms.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Chairpersons of the CSE, SWE, and ADS departments, as well as their Program Coordinators and faculty members, for their continuous encouragement and motivation. Special thanks to Professor Dr. Md. Saiful Azad for his unwavering commitment to the growth of the GUB Competitive Programming Community.
