On 27 July 2026, the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Green University of Bangladesh, organized an industrial visit to the Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN), co-organized by the IEEE GUB Student Branch and the IEEE Computer Society GUB Student Branch Chapter. The objective of the visit was to provide practical exposure to BdREN's national network infrastructure, cloud computing, data center operations, cybersecurity, digital research resources and high-performance computing services, bridging classroom learning with real-world applications.

After gathering at the university, we traveled to the UGC Bhaban, Agargaon, where the program started with registration and a welcome session. Mr. Biplab Chandra Mahanta, Manager (Sales), introduced BdREN and shared his professional journey, encouraging students to continuously improve their knowledge and technical skills to build successful careers. This was followed by a presentation from Mr. Kh Rashedul Arefin, General Manager (Systems & Services), who explained BdREN's nationwide network infrastructure, its services for higher education and research institutions, and its significant contribution to ensuring uninterrupted online education during the COVID-19 pandemic. After the morning sessions, refreshments were served.
The technical session was jointly conducted by Mr. Jamilur Rahman, Manager (Systems and Cloud), and Mr. Ahmed Al Hosain, Assistant Manager (Knowledge and Research). They discussed BdREN's connectivity services, cloud computing, cybersecurity, high-performance computing (HPC), digital research resources and the architecture of the BdREN data center. Their presentations provided a practical understanding of how modern networking, cloud services and research infrastructures support universities and research organizations across Bangladesh.
The participants were then divided into small groups for a guided tour of the BdREN Data Center. During the visit, we observed enterprise-grade server racks, network switches and routers, storage systems, fiber optic connectivity, uninterrupted power supply systems, precision cooling, fire detection and suppression systems and physical security measures. The tour gave us valuable insight into how a professional data center is designed, managed and maintained to ensure reliable and secure network services.

After the data center visit, Mr. Ahmed Al Hosain demonstrated the BdREN Digital Library and explained how students and researchers can access thousands of journals, e-books and scholarly databases to support coursework, research and innovation. The corporate soft-skills session was conducted by Md. Imranur Rahman, Assistant Manager (Sales), who emphasized the importance of communication, professionalism, teamwork and workplace ethics for emerging professionals. Later, Mr. Ekhlas Uddin Ahmed, Chief Marketing Officer of BdREN, inspired students by highlighting the values of positivity, respectfulness, ownership and adaptability as essential qualities for long-term career success.
The program concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, a closing speech by Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, Faculty Member of the Department of CSE, Green University of Bangladesh, and a group photograph with all participants. After lunch, we returned to the university with a deeper understanding of networking technologies, cloud computing, research infrastructure and professional development. The industrial visit successfully connected our academic knowledge with real-world industry practices and provided valuable insights that will benefit our future studies and careers.
