The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Green University of Bangladesh successfully hosted the Inauguration Ceremony of its Student Mentorship Program for the Summer 2026 semester on 01 July 2026, welcoming newly admitted students to a structured initiative designed to foster academic excellence, personal growth, and a supportive learning environment throughout their university journey. The event commenced with a warm welcome from the anchors, who outlined the program's objectives and introduced the distinguished guests, faculty members, mentors, and mentees, followed by recitations from the Holy Quran and the Holy Gita that underscored the university's dedication to unity and religious harmony. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Azad, Dean of the Faculty of Science & Engineering, delivered a compelling keynote address on the transformative role of mentorship in higher education, drawing upon international perspectives to illustrate how effective guidance enhances students' academic success and overall experience, while also addressing the responsibilities of mentors and the common challenges faced by newcomers. Subsequently, Mentor Advisor M. A. Rakib Sarkar elaborated on the expected conduct of mentees, encouraging students to forge strong connections with their mentors, faculty, seniors, and peers, and sharing his personal journey to emphasize the values of companionship and continuous support, while Special Guest Dr. Serajum Munira presented an informative session on sexual and cyber harassment, clarifying the various forms of harassment, the distinction between valid and invalid complaints, the submission process, preventive measures, confidentiality protocols, and disciplinary actions, reaffirming the university's zero-tolerance policy and its assurance of complete institutional support for victims. Mentor Moderator Mayeesha Farjana then welcomed all attendees and introduced the program's overarching goals, stressing the importance of mentorship in cultivating leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, while former Student Mentor Saiful Islam Rimon delivered a motivational address that encouraged new students to remain focused and communicate openly with their mentors about both academic and personal concerns, assuring them of unwavering guidance throughout their time at the university. In his concluding keynote, Chairperson and Associate Professor Syed Ahsanul Kabir discussed the long-term impact and privileges of the mentorship initiative, urging students to strive for excellence beyond grades, maintain effective communication with faculty and authorities, and prepare themselves as future mentors, citing inspirational examples such as Mark Zuckerberg's success and the mentorship between Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi to illustrate how proper guidance can nurture extraordinary talent, while also expressing his appreciation for the current mentors' organizational efforts and the former mentors' lasting contributions. A special Appreciation Award Ceremony recognized the dedication of former mentors with crests presented by the Honorable Chairperson, honoring their commitment and leadership in fostering a welcoming environment for incoming students, and the formal session concluded with a group photograph and an informal networking segment that allowed mentors and mentees to interact and build meaningful connections before commencing their mentorship journey. The ceremony officially ended at 11:00 AM, successfully reinforcing the department's and the university's unwavering commitment to academic excellence, student well-being, leadership development, and collaborative learning, and the department extends its sincere gratitude to all respected guests, faculty members, mentors, former mentors, and students for their invaluable presence and cooperation in making the event a resounding success.
