The Student Mentorship Program of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Green University of Bangladesh, successfully organized an online guidance meeting for first-semester students of the CSE 260 (Day) Batch on July 9, 2026. Held via the Zoom platform at 7:30 PM, the session was specifically designed to support and prepare freshers for their upcoming Summer 2026 Midterm Examinations.

The session commenced with a warm welcome to the Honorable Chairperson, esteemed faculty members, dedicated mentors, and the new cohort. The anchors set a clear and encouraging tone by outlining the meeting's objectives, reinforcing the department’s commitment to ensuring students are academically prepared and mentally confident as they face their first university examination.

Student Mentor Advisor M.A. Rakib Sarkar addressed the students directly, acknowledging the common anxieties associated with first-semester exams. He encouraged them to replace fear with confidence and emphasized the importance of reaching out for support whenever needed. Following this, Senior Mentor Irfan Ferdous Siam provided a practical, step-by-step demonstration on navigating the university portal to download admit cards, as well as accessing detailed examination schedules and seat plans.

The session then moved to academic insights, with Dr. Umme Ruman, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE, sharing strategic advice on effective exam preparation. She focused on the pillars of diligent time management and consistent study habits. Furthermore, she inspired students to strive for holistic excellence—urging them to not only pursue academic rigor but also cultivate personal development and actively participate in co-curricular activities.

A pivotal moment of the evening was the keynote address delivered by Syed Ahsanul Kabir, Chairperson & Associate Professor, Department of CSE. He motivated the students to prepare consistently and maintain unwavering academic discipline. Emphasizing integrity, he stressed that academic honesty is non-negotiable and strongly advised against any form of unfair practice. He reassured students of the open-door policy of the faculty and mentors, urging them to communicate openly whenever they face challenges.

The meeting featured a highly interactive Q&A session, where a distinguished panel addressed diverse student concerns. The panel included:

  • Syed Ahsanul Kabir, Chairperson & Associate Professor, Department of CSE

  • Dr. Umme Ruman, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE

  • Dr. Md. Ahsanul Alam, Associate Professor & Exam Controller

  • Mr. Mohammad Khorshed Alam, Deputy Director of F&A

The panel patiently answered queries regarding syllabus completion, examination patterns, class schedules, transportation facilities, and campus infrastructure. In response to a student’s concern about balancing syllabus coverage with class routines, the Honorable Chairperson explained that the B.Sc. in CSE course plans and schedules are meticulously designed to ensure sufficient preparation time while maintaining the highest academic standards.

The meeting concluded successfully at 9:00 PM, leaving the first-semester students equipped with essential academic guidance and institutional instructions. This initiative vividly reflects the Student Mentorship Program’s and the Department of CSE’s proactive commitment to nurturing confident, responsible, and successful professionals.
